This week’s spotlight

Unlock the complexities of EU civil service contract types to strategically navigate your career path. Discover the hierarchy from Official to Contract Agent, each with distinct implications for job responsibilities and salary. Gain insight into the prestigious Official contract, boasting guaranteed employment and a high salary but requiring a rigorous entry exam. Explore Temporary Agents with direct recruitment and similar high salaries, yet lower job security. Delve into Contract Agents, a stepping stone to the EU civil service, offering less competitive selections and potential career growth.

A word from our team

A little-known fact is that you can work for the EU even beyond the borders of the EU itself. The positions are a little outside our scope and generally have lower grades, than EU agency posts, but you could be an EU civil servant and living in Turkey, Ethiopia or even Australia. For currently available positions, you can search the EEAS vacancies page. We will write a full guide on this topic in the future for sure! 😀

For those who don’t know, the European External Action Service (EEAS) is the European Union’s diplomatic service. Since 2011, the EEAS has carried out the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy across the globe.
