🧑‍💼 The European Banking Authority (EBA) is inviting applications for the position of Chairperson, a senior leadership role guiding the strategic vision of the Authority. The Chairperson will represent the EBA, chair its Management Board and Board of Supervisors, and play a key role in shaping the regulatory framework of the European financial system. Candidates will be assessed against a set of eligibility and selection criteria, with three advantageous requirements offering a competitive edge: (1) thorough knowledge of and experience in financial regulation and/or supervision at national, EU or international level; (2) a deep understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes, alongside relevant international activities; and (3) excellent knowledge of the EU political and legal environment with proven negotiation experience at EU and international level.

The European Court of Auditors (ECA) has issued its annual audit of EU spending, revealing a decrease in the overall error rate to 3.6% in 2024, down from 5.6% in 2023. Despite this improvement, the ECA continues to issue an 'adverse' opinion on EU expenditure for the sixth consecutive year, citing persistent material errors, particularly in cohesion funding. The European Parliament has initiated its discharge procedure to determine whether to grant discharge to the Commission for its implementation of the EU budget, with a final decision expected in April 2026.
