This week’s spotlight

This week, we're shining a light on something most job seekers never think to ask about: who actually represents your interests once you're inside an EU institution. The answer starts in the Staff Regulations themselves, which legally require every institution to establish an elected Staff Committee empowered to raise concerns, propose improvements, and participate in managing staff welfare. Beyond that formal structure, active unions like Union Syndicale Fédérale and U4U — Union for Unity — give staff a collective voice on everything from pension reform to working conditions. Whether you're weighing a contract agent role or planning your long-term EU career, understanding this ecosystem makes you a more informed candidate from day one — read the full article on nextEUjob.

💸 The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in Luxembourg is looking for a Procurement Assistant (AST 3) to join its Finance & Procurement Sector on a three-year temporary contract, with the possibility of renewal for an indefinite period — and a starting salary of €4,806 per month before allowances. The role involves supporting the full procurement cycle, from drafting tender documentation to managing contract files and preparing audit reports. While the essential requirements are straightforward, three things will set stronger candidates apart: an academic background in economics, public administration, law, or finance; at least two years of hands-on procurement experience within EU institutions with working knowledge of the EU Financial Regulation; and familiarity with electronic procurement and financial systems such as ABAC, SUMMA, or the Funding & Tenders Portal. The deadline to apply is 6 April 2026 at 23:59 CET — applications must be submitted directly by email to [email protected] using the EPPO application form.

A word from our team

🛃 A brand-new EU agency is headed to northern France, and with it, around 250 well-paid EU official positions. Lille beat eight rival cities — including Rome, Bucharest, Warsaw and Zagreb — in a nail-biting three-round vote to host the new EU Customs Authority (EUCA), which will coordinate oversight of imports ranging from e-commerce parcels to illegal goods. As we've covered before on nextEUjob, the creation of a new EU agency is one of the best moments to enter the EU civil service — agencies recruit dozens of posts in their early years, structures are flatter, and joining early can fast-track your career progression in ways that larger, more established institutions rarely offer.
