Staff morale is reported to be low, with fears of job losses and uncertainty about contract renewals, particularly for outsourced audiovisual, event, and outreach roles. The cuts will affect discretionary spending, including public-facing events, prizes, and exhibitions, even if the service is intended to “readjust” rather than fundamentally reform the department.
