This week’s spotlight

⏲️ This week’s spotlight shows that working part-time at EU institutions isn’t just about fewer hours — you can legitimately reduce your working time if you’re caring for children, managing serious family hardship or illness, or easing into retirement (and the request must be handled within 60 days). The scheme still preserves core family-related benefits (like child or household allowances), and pension-contribution rules even allow you to keep pension rights close to full-time level to ease the long-term impact of reduced hours. All in all, it’s a flexible path that helps you balance personal life and a career in the EU civil service — take a deeper look in the full article!

📖 The full library of articles we have published has really grown over the years and it can be difficult to locate exactly what you’re looking for. You can now ask nextEUjob’s AI assistant to help you find the answer based on our website’s content. 😉

A word from our team

📰 Member states — worried about the size, complexity and cost of administration — are pushing for a leaner, reorganised structure of EU institutions to keep bureaucracy and overhead under control. That could lead to fewer administrative layers and possibly more efficiency, but also less “glamour” and more pressure on staff to do more with less. For aspiring EU-employees, that means chances are rising that the institutions may change — new rules, different career dynamics. 😲 Keep it here at nextEUjob for all the latest info.

✍️ If there is a publicly documented issue you would like us to highlight to all our readers, we’d be grateful for your tip. Simply reply to this email. 💙 Merci!
