🚑️ How does health insurance work in the EU civil service? The JSIS (Joint Sickness Insurance Scheme) is the compulsory health insurance system (covering in particular sickness, accidents and maternity) for officials and staff of the European institutions, established on the basis of Article 72 of the Staff Regulations.

Financed by contributions (whether direct contributions, deducted from salary or the share paid by the institutions which also constitutes an indirect salary), the JSIS is common for all staff members of the European institutions:
